signs and symptoms: Delicate constitution with recurrent fever and chills, scanty urination, thirst, sweating of the head, lower body chills, sensation of irritability in the chest, rapid heart palpitations.
tongue and pulse: Minute, thin and rapid pulse.
indications: Xiao Yang Stage Disorder. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as insomnia, common cold, pneumonia, bronchitis, tuberculosis, pleurisy, peritonitis, gastric distention, palpitations, hepatitis, and cholecystitis.

» 6 grams: bupleurum (chai hu).
» 3 grams: trichosanthes root (tian hua fen), oyster shell (mu li), cinnamon twig (gui zhi), scute (huang qin).
» 2 grams: licorice (gan cao), ginger (gan jiang).
