actions: regulates the Gall Bladder; transforms Damp-Heat (especially Gall Bladder); expels gallbladder stones and parasites
indications: acute and chronic cholecystitis; cholelithiasis; biliary colic; biliary ascariasis; acute pain following cholecystectomy; hypochondriac pain; lateral costal pain; lower extremity pain, paralysis and weakness
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.5 - 1.3 cun; during needling use the reducing method: i.e., swift insertion, slow removal; following attainment of needling sensation use repetitious lifting-thrustings until sensation is experienced in the toe tips. Needles may be removed immediately or retained 1 - 2 hours during which time they are twirled every 15 minutes. Generally, treatment is administered every 6 hours. (Zhang, et al, p. 35).
