Ma Huang and Atractylodes F. = Ma Huang Jia Zhu Tang = "Ephedra Decoction plus Atractylodes"

signs and symptoms: General aching, muscular pain, arthralgia, edema, fever, severe chills, asthmatic cough, headaches, stuffy nose.
tongue and pulse: thin white tongue coat
indications: Wind-Damp-Cold with preexisting Spleen Qi Xu (Deficiency) with Dampness. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as rheumatic pain, arthralgia, edema, nasal suppuration, rhinitis, and acute nephritis.
cautions and contraindications: Use with caution in patients with hypertension. Contraindicated for weak patients with copious urination, and for patients prone to bleeding (especially nosebleeds).
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 6 grams: ephedra (ma huang), cinnamon twig (gui zhi), apricot seed (xing ren), white atractylodes (bai zhu).
» 3 grams: honey-baked licorice (zhi gan cao).
