definition

Snowberry (Symphoricarpus albus)

Therapeutic theme: accepting life as it is, at the moment
Signature : Produces clusters of tiny pink flowers on bushes growing up to 5 feet tall. Its white berries stay on the shrub almost all winter. There is something about the enduring nature of this plant and its year round visibility which is indicative of how its energy always embraces life as it is.

Snowberry dissolves resistance to "what is" and gently leads us to acceptance. Situations and experiences may not appear to "make sense." Nonetheless we can embrace them wholeheartedly.
Embracing "what is," even when it is painful, can lead to that exquisite experience of ecstasy. Snowberry guides us to this place of being fully alive in the moment.
The soul is a fragment of the Light. On its journey through life it encounters shadows and darkness even within itself. Only by acknowledging and embracing the dark can we move again into the Light. If we resist, the darkness intensifies.
In the symbology of the Tarot the correlation for this essence is the Devil. What could be a better symbol of darkness? But as James Wanless points out in the Voyager Tarot , devil spelled backwards is "lived" and marks the potential for full expression of life. He quotes Vivekananda, "See good and evil as the same; both are merely God's play." He also notes that the I Ching hexagram for the Devil is #16 Enthusiasm. This word comes from the Greek "en theos," which literally means "in God."
Working through the Crown chakra we remember who we are and accept "what is" as a challenge. Snowberry fortifies the link between the Crown and Heart chakras and leads to vibrancy of the Heart.
Physically it is effective for chronic fatigue syndrome and seasonal affected disorders.
