san jiao shu = triple warmer's hollow/correspondence
Shu Associated point of the San Jiao (Triple Warmer); receives a vessel from the Triple Warmer; effects the three Warmers more than the channels
location: 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of L-1, level with GV-5.
actions: regulates San Jiao collectively, and the Upper, Middle and Lower Warmers individually; tonifies the Kidney; eliminates Dampness and regulates passage of water in the Lower Warmer (diuresis); regulates the transforming function of Qi; expels stones
indications: dizziness and headache; neurasthenia; emaciation; vomiting; indigestion; gastritis; gastric hemorrhage; jaundice; enterocolitis; abdominal distension; ascites; borborygmi; diarrhea; melena; flatulence; rectal prolapse; edema; nephritis; urinary retention; urinary incontinence; enuresis; kidney stones; shoulder and back muscle spasms and stiffness; low back pain; pain in loins
needle technique: oblique insertion inferiorly, 0.5 - 1.0 cun, or toward the spine, 1.0 - 1.5 cun, producing local soreness and distension which often extends to the waist; caution: be careful not to insert the needle too deeply to avoid puncturing the underlying viscera;
moxa: 3 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
