Bamboo and Hoelen C. = Wen Dan Tang = "Warm the Gallbladder Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Vertigo, nausea or vomiting, insomnia, nightmares, palpitations, melancholy, anxiety, loss of appetite, a bitter taste in the mouth, and mild thirst.
tongue and pulse: Greasy, yellow tongue coating, and slippery or wiry, rapid pulse.
indications: Gall Bladder and Stomach Phlegm-Heat. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as neurosis, early stages of schizophrenia, insomnia, Meniere's disease, heart palpitations, chronic bronchitis, nausea and vomiting secondary to chemotherapy, chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, and chronic hepatitis.
cautions and contraindications:
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 9 grams: poria (fu ling).
» 6 grams: pinellia (ban xia), citrus (chen pi), chih-shih (zhi shi), bamboo shavings (zhu ru).
» 3 grams: jujube (da zao).
» 1 gram: licorice (gan cao).
modifications:
» for insomnia, add succinum (hu po), zizyphus (suan zao ren) and oyster shell (mu li).
» with bitter taste in the mouth and irritability, add coptis (huang lian).
