Qing Dan Xie Huo Tang = "Clear the Gallbladder and Drain Fire Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Hypochondriac pain, bitter taste in the mouth, alternating fever and chills, abdominal distention.
tongue and pulse: red or dark-red tongue with a yellow, dry coating, and wiry, slippery and rapid or flooding, rapid pulse.
indications: Fire Shi (Excess) of acute cholecystitis.
cautions and contraindications: Not be taken long-term, in large doses, in cases with Spleen Xu (Deficiency), or Injury to the Fluids.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 30 grams: capillaris (yin chen hao).
» 15 grams: bupleurum (chai hu), scute (huang qin).
» 9 grams: pinellia (ban xia), gardenia (zhi zi), gentiana (long dan cao), curcuma (yu jin), saussurea (mu xiang), rhubarb (da huang) (add near end of decoction), mirabilitum (mang xiao) (dissolve in strained decoction).
