Pinellia and Gastrodia C. = Ban Xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang = "Pinellia, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, and Gastrodia Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Dizziness, recurrent headache, a stifling sensation in the chest, gastrointestinal weakness, nausea or vomiting, copious sputum, cold feet, fatigue, heavy sensation in the body.
tongue and pulse: White, greasy tongue coating, and wiry, slippery pulse.
indications: Phlegm due to Endogenous Wind. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as recurrent headaches, Meniere's disease, hypertension, headache and vertigo due to hypotension, benign positional vertigo, compulsive sleeping after eating, abdominal distention, and weakness of the hands or feet.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated for for vertigo from either Liver Yang Rising or from Xue Xu (Blood Deficiency).
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 6 grams: pinellia (ban xia), white atractylodes (bai zhu), poria (fu ling).
» 3 grams: gastrodia (tian ma), citrus (chen pi), licorice (gan cao), fresh ginger (sheng jiang), jujube (da zao).
modifications:
» for severe headache, add vitex (man jing zi).
» for severe vertigo, add silkworm (jiang can) and bile-treated arisaema (dan nan xing).
» for weakness, add codonopsis (dang shen) and astragalus (huang qi).
