You Gui Wan = "Restore the Right (Kidney) Pill"

signs and symptoms: Knee and low back aching or pain with cold sensation, aversion to cold, fatigue, impotence, spermatorrhea, infertility, loose stools (sometimes with undigested food), incontinence or copious urination, edema of the legs.
tongue and pulse: pale tongue, with deep, slow and weak pulse.
indications: Kidney Yang Xu (Deficiency). With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as chronic nephritis, diabetes, spermatorrhea, and impotence.
cautions and contraindications:
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 20 grams: prepared rehmannia (shu di huang).
» 15 grams: dioscorea (shan yao), antelope horn gelatin (lu jiao jiao).
» 10 grams: cornus (shan zhu yu), lycium fruit (gou qi zi), eucommia (du zhong), Chinese angelica (tang kuei) (dang gui), cuscuta (tu si zi).
modifications:
» for Yang and Qi Xu (Deficiency), add ginseng (ren shen).
» for Yang Xu (Deficiency) with spermatorrhea, turbid leukorrhea, and/or pasty stools, add psoralea (bu gu zhi).
» for incessant Kidney diarrhea, add schizandra (wu wei zi) and nutmeg (rou dou kou).
» for reduced appetite, poor digestion, nausea, and acid regurgitation due to Cold and Xu (Deficiency) of the Spleen and Stomach, add dry ginger (gan jiang).
» for incessant abdominal pain, add evodia (wu zhu yu).
» for impotence, add morinda (ba ji tian) and cistanches (rou cong rong).
