location: 3 cun below the axillary fold, on the radial side of the biceps brachii muscle.
actions: removes Obstructions of the rising Qi flow (opens a large "Window of the Sky") and reestablishes the circulation between the Liver and the Lung to treat Liver/Lung disharmonies (Finkelstein, p. 1), hence reestablishes connection between soul and personality; clears Lung Heat; regulates Lung Qi; relieves Lung Shi (Excess); increases oxygen to brain; supervises the Qi
indications: depression; likes to lie down (Mann, p. 3); speaks to himself or does not speak at all (Mann, p. 3); claustrophobia; agoraphobia; mental confusion; "possessed by a devil" (Mann, p. 3); can't stop crying (Kaptchuk); cerebral congestion; forgetfulness; dizziness; intermittent fever; epistaxis; extreme thirst; vomiting; food sticks in throat; asthma; dyspnea; bronchitis; carbon monoxide poisoning; brachial neuralgia; pain in the medial aspect of the arm
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.3 - 0.5 cun, producing local sensation of numbness and distension, possibly spreading upwards and downwards
moxa: direct moxibustion contraindicated, though indirect moxa for 5 minutes may be appropriate in some cases
combinations:

» with TW-13 and St-11 for neck growth with swollen throat (Shanghai, p. 604);
