definition and etiology

» conventional diagnoses: neurosis; general asthenia; heart disease; cardiac insufficiency; angina pectoris; arrhythmias

» etiology: blood loss; emotional problems, particularly sadness

signs and symptoms

signs and symptoms:

lethargy

• spontaneous sweating

palpitations

• shortness of breath which is aggravated by exertion

» pulse: empty; thready, weak, possibly irregular; in severe cases Heart pulse position may feel slightly overflowing and empty (Maciocia, p. 202)

» tongue: pale or normal; severe cases may display midline crack reaching tip with swelling on each side
