Jing River, Fire and Tonification point of the Foot Yang Ming (Stomach) channel
location: In the middle of the transverse crease of the lower leg and dorsum of the foot between extensor digitorum & hallucis longus, level with the tip of the lateral malleolus.
actions: clears the Mind and pacifies the Shen; clears and descends Fire; brightens the eyes; dispels Wind; clears Heat in Stomach; harmonizes Stomach; supports Spleen Qi; removes Obstructions from Stomach channel; transforms Damp Stagnation; sedates spasms
indications: agitation; madness; fear and fright; incoherent speech; epilepsy; convulsions in children; headache; vertigo; facial edema; red eyes; thirst; toothache; gingivitis; epigastric pain and distension; muscles numb; sciatica; diseases of ankle and surrounding soft tissues; rheumatism of the foot; foot drop; heel pain
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.3 - 0.5 cun, producing a local sensation of soreness and distension, possibly spreading throughout ankle
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
