» clinical manifestations: patient shows no energetic response to any treatment; empty look in eyes, like no one there; patient doesn't seem to be hearing what is said to them
» conventional diagnoses: possession, psychosis, depression
» pulse: commonly unaffected, may be erratic and/or superficial
» tongue: usually unaffected but may be quivering or have a thick coat
» etiology: acute or past physical or emotional trauma
» principle of treatment: dispel Internal Dragons
» therapeutic note: use sedating needle technique sedate first; if the person and the pulses change, fine; if no change with sedation, then tonify.
» acupuncture points:
Master point 1/4" below CV-15 (- or +)
St-25 (- or +): supports Earth and harmonizes the Center; regulates the channels and promotes Qi circulation; regulates Qi, esp. Ying (Constructive) Qi and Wei (Protective) Qi (Finkelstein, p. 15); tonifies Ying (Constructive) Qi and thus neutralizes Shi (Excess) Heat; eliminates Qi Stagnation and/or Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) in Large Intestine; clears Heat from Large Intestine; transforms Dampness; ascends the Clear and descends the Turbid; Large Intestine Mu Alarm point; tian shu = heavenly pivot
St-32 (- or +): warms the channels and dissipates Cold; removes Obstructions from the channel; expels Wind-Heat; fu tu = prostrate hare
St-41 (- or +): clears the Mind and pacifies the Shen; clears and descends Fire; brightens the eyes; dispels Wind; clears Heat in Stomach; harmonizes Stomach; supports Spleen Qi; transforms Damp Stagnation; sedates spasms; removes Obstructions from the channel; Stomach Jing River, Fire and Tonification point; jie xi = released stream
