» treatment notes:
Spleen Xu (Deficiency) and Heat in the Xue (Blood) often manifest together. In such cases the Heat is a Xu (Deficiency) Heat.

Acupuncture gets its best results if the treatment is begun before there is degeneration of the tissue, since acupuncture manipulates the Qi. Once there is a degeneration in the tissue, acupuncture's effect is only indirect. If the walls of the vein causing the hemorrhoids have ballooned out too far for too long, they will lose their elasticity and ability to contract. In such cases banding or surgical excision are suggested. However, these two procedures will in no way redress the energetic etiology responsible for the hemorrhoids. If the root imbalance is not corrected, either one will develop more hemorrhoids or the imbalance will simply manifest in another area of the body as a different, though related, set of symptoms. Therefore, a proper energetic diagnosis and differentiation of syndromes is necessary to prevent further problems, and treatment should be administered to correct that imbalance even if or after hemorrhoids have been physically removed.
