location: In the depression distal to the juncture of the fourth and fifth metatarsals.
actions: calms fright; dissipates Wind; removes Fire; dissolves Phlegm; brightens the eyes; harmonizes and regulates the Liver and Gall Bladder; removes Stagnancy of Liver Qi; spreads Liver Qi to reduce Stagnation of Phlegm and Xue (Blood) in the Liver channel; relieves distention and swelling in the breast; stops secretion of milk; clears and regulates the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel); clears Wetness (Damp Spleen) by draining into Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel), thereby increasing Spleen Qi and Xue (Blood) production, improving digestion, and warming the extremities; dispels Damp-Heat
indications: intermittent fever; occipital headache; unilateral headache; mastoid pain; vertigo; deafness; tinnitus; conjunctivitis; scrofula; axillary adenitis; mastitis; abscessed breast; dyspnea; costal and hypochondriac pain; ribs full and painful; side or lower rib pain; irregular menstruation; dysmenorrhea; migratory rheumatic pains; supraclavicular pain; sciatica; dampness and sweating of feet and lower part of legs; excessive perspiration
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.3 - 0.8 cun, or oblique insertion medially, 0.6 - 1.2 cun, producing a local sensation of soreness and distension, possibly spreading to top of fourth toe
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
