Luo Connecting point of the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) with the Du Mai (Governing Vessel); Source point of the five Zang (Yin viscera); a network of small channels juts out into the abdominal wall from CV-15 (Finkelstein, p. 91)

location: 7 cun above the umbilicus on the midline, below the xiphoid process.

actions: clears Heat and extinguishes Wind; pacifies the Shen; stimulates the pituitary (Worsley, 1975, p. B-20; Finkelstein, p. 91); nourishes Heart Yin and tonifies Heart Xue (Blood); promotes flow of Qi; benefits Yuan (Original) Qi; nourishes all Yin organs; relaxes the chest; transforms Phlegm and sedates cough; regulates the Stomach; brings down Rebellious Qi

indications: mental diseases; insanity; hysteria; patient wanders and struts wildly, raving and unable to articulate thoughts and feelings; "severe anxiety, worry, emotional upsets, fears or obsessions" (Maciocia, p. 465); unilateral headaches; migraine headaches; hematemesis; pharyngitis; difficult ingestion of fluids; hiccough; gastric reflux; chest fullness and pain; palpitations; cardiac diseases; hemoptysis; wheezing and dyspnea; gastric pain; abdominal swelling; rectal prolapse; adolescent sexual taxation; diminished virility (Mann, p. 75)

needle technique: perpendicular insertion or oblique insertion inferiorly, 0.3 - 0.6 cun, producing a local sensation of distension and discomfort, sometimes spreading upward; caution: avoid deep insertion

moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole

combinations:
» with Kd-1, UB-15, LI-10, CV-12, Lu-11 and CV-14 for epilepsy (Lee and Cheung, p. 298)
» with SI-3, Kd-1, UB-15, GB-35, St-36, Lv-3, Lv-2 and CV-13 for epilepsy (Lee and Cheung, p. 298)
» with Ht-7 and SI-3 to treat the "five epilepsies" (Ellis, et al, 1988, p. 359).
