Yang He Tang = "Yang-Heartening Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Localized, painful swellings, without inflammation or skin color change, no thirst.
tongue and pulse: Very pale tongue, and deep, thin and forceless pulse.
indications: Yin-type Localized Swelling. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as thromboangiitis obliterans, aseptic suppuration, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic osteomyelitis, fibrocystic breasts, and lower back pain (including sciatica).
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with Yang-type localized swellings, with Yin Xu (Deficiency), or with any swellings with chronic ulceration.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 30 grams: prepared rehmannia (shu di huang).
» 9 grams: antelope horn gelatin (lu jiao jiao).
» 6 grams: brassica seed (bai jie zi).
» 3 grams: cinnamon bark (rou gui), licorice (gan cao).
» 1.5 grams: quick-fried ginger (pao jiang), ephedra (ma huang).
modifications:
» for general signs of Cold, add aconite (fu zi).
» for severe Qi Xu (Deficiency), add astragalus (huang qi) and ginseng (ren shen).
» for fibrocystic breasts, add cyperus (xiang fu), citrus (chen pi) and add curcuma (yu jin).
