location: 0.5 cun posterior and inferior to Kd-3, in the angle of the Achilles tendon and heel.
actions: nourishes the Shen and Yin; regulates the Kidney; reinforces the Liver and Kidney, the latter through longitudinal Luo vessels; facilitates the flow of Qi and Xue (Blood); harmonizes the Xue (Blood); supplements the Jing (Essence)
indications: mania; "susceptibility to fright or anger; ... insufficiency of spirit qi" (Ellis, et al, 1988, p. 249); hysteria; esp. with a person who is fearful and discontented, completely lacking in motivation and desiring only to lay around at home, possibly due to insecurity, lack of confidence, or a feeling of inferiority (Mann, p. 45; listed as "Kd-5"); alleviates tendency to crying, depression, anxiety and nervousness shortly before menses (Mann, p. 45, listed as "Kd-5"); mental retardation; malaria; mouth hot and dry; tongue dry; "bleeding from the root of the tongue" (Ellis, et al, 1988, p. 249); difficult swallowing; noise in throat; soreness in pharynx; vomiting; hemoptysis; fullness of the chest; asthma; abdominal distension; constipation; nocturnal enuresis in children; inhibited urination; gonorrhea; uterine spasm; stiffness and pain in the lumbar spine; pain and swelling in heel; dislikes the cold
