Xi Cleft Accumulation point of the Hand Jue Yin (Pericardium /Circulation-Sex) channel
location: 5 cun proximal to the transverse crease of the wrist, between the tendons of Palmaris longus and Flexor Carpi radialis.
actions: calms the Shen and tranquilizes the Mind; pacifies and tranquilizes the Heart; regulates Heart Qi; clears Heat; stops pain; opens the chest and expands the diaphragm, specifically treats "hyperdiaphragm", i.e., patient unable to hold breath after deep inhalation (Matsumoto); cools Xue (Blood) Heat; detoxifies the Xue (Blood); harmonizes the Stomach; regulates Qi; redirects Rebellious Qi downward; relieves Obstruction in Jue Yin (Pericardium and Liver); clears the channels, esp. promotes circulation in channels and collateral vessels of chest to remove Stagnation and pain
indications: fear of surroundings and strangers; lack of energy, esp. mental strength; forgetfulness; hysteria; irritability; nervousness; epistaxis; cough; hemoptysis; nausea and vomiting; Heart Qi Xu (Deficiency); acute myocardial infarction; acute severe angina pectoris; acute chest pain; palpitations; arrhythmia; myocarditis; rheumatic heart disease; diaphragmatic spasms and constraint; hemorrhoids; boils and skin diseases caused by Hot Xue (Blood); tendency to bruise easily (Mann, p. 52); pain or paralysis of the anterior forearm and fingers
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.5 - 0.8 cun, producing local sensation of distension and numbness, often spreading distally to the hand
