signs and symptoms: Measles with fever, mild aversion to cold, lack of sweating, cough, sore throat, irritability, lassitude, thirst, dark urine, diarrhea.
tongue and pulse:
indications: Early-stage measles in which the rash has not yet thoroughly and completely erupted.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated for rashes that break out evenly, as this may cause Qi Xu (Deficiency), and in cases of measles toxins penetrating internally with symptoms such as coughing and wheezing.
ingredients: dosage for one day:
» 6 grams: forsythia (lian qiao), arctium (niu bang zi), apricot seed (xing ren).
» 3 grams: cimicifuga (sheng ma), pueraria (ge gen), peucedanum (qian hu), platycodon (jie geng), chih-ko (zhi ke), schizonepeta (jing jie), siler (fang feng), lophatherum (dan zhu ye), mentha (bo he), akebia (mu tong).
» 1.5 grams: licorice (gan cao).
