location: On the thenar eminence, at the midpoint along the radial aspect of the 1st metacarpal bone, at the juncture of the red and white skin.
actions: dispels Wind-Heat; clears Fire and Heat generally; eliminates Fire from the head, i.e. depression (Finkelstein, p. 4); abates fever; stimulates sweating to disperse superficial conditions; regulates, benefits and moistens the Lung and throat; cools and clears Heat in the Lung; cools Heat in Xue (Blood); harmonizes the Stomach and rids Stagnation in infants; removes Obstruction of the breast

needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 0.5 - 0.8 cun, producing local sensation of soreness and distension, sometimes spreading through the forearm
