LISTENING TO THE SYMPTOM:

First, one creates a state of mental and physical relaxation and calm. This is accessed by focusing attention on the body, part by part, inviting each part to relax, while at the same time doing deep, full breathing, a process that takes about ten minutes. Imagine yourself in a quiet inner place that is serene and secure. Then, focus on a symptom, allowing an image to represent it. Then engage the image of the symptom in a dialogue in order to find our why it is there, what wants it, and how you can meet the needs it represents.
