Tokoro C. = Bei Xie Fen Qing Yin = "Dioscorea Hypoglauca Decoction to Separate the Clear"

signs and symptoms: Frequent, cloudy urination.
tongue and pulse: pale tongue with white coat, with sinking, slow and weak pulse.
indications: Kidney Qi Xu (Deficiency) with Cold. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as polyuria, cystitis, urethritis, turbid urine, nephrotic syndrome, acute exacerbations of chronic pyelonephritis, chronic gonorrhea, chronic prostatitis, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, and trichomoniasis.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated for Bladder Damp-Heat or Kidney Yin Xu (Deficiency).
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 9 grams: hypoglauca yam (tokoro) (bei xie).
» 6 grams: black cardamon (yi zhi ren), lindera (wu yao).
» 3 grams: acorus (shi chang fu).
modifications:
» to strengthen the actions of Draining Dampness and Transforming Turbidity, add 6 grams of poria (fu ling) and 3 grams of licorice (gan cao).
» for Qi Xu (Deficiency) of the Middle Warmer, add codonopsis (dang shen), white atractylodes (bai zhu), poria (fu ling), and honey-fried licorice (zhi gan cao).
» for leukorrhea due to Damp-Cold, add aconite (fu zi), cinnamon bark (rou gui), cuscuta (tu si zi), red atractylodes (cang shu) and poria (fu ling).
» for chronic prostatitis with chyluria, add cuscuta (tu si zi), ligustrum (nu zhen zi), lysimachia (jin qian cao) and plantago seed (che qian zi).
» if the patient also has symptoms of Spleen and Stomach Qi Xu (Deficiency), use with Four Major Herbs C. (Si Jun Zi Tang).
