Jiao Hui Intersecting point of the Yang Qiao Mai (Yang Motility Vessel) on the Hand Yang MIng (Large Intestine) channel; Window of the Sky point
location: In the depression between the acromial extremity of the clavicle and the scapular spine.
actions: disperses Yang Shi (Excess) from the upper body; promotes Lung Qi, esp. stimulates descending of Lung Qi; disperses Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) in chest; opens chest; promotes smooth function of the joints; frees the channels and invigorates the collateral vessels
indications: agitation; fright epilepsy; epilepsy convulsions in children; toothache; cervical lymphadenitis; goiter; hematemesis; cough; asthma; painful obstructions in the shoulder; brachial neuralgia; paralysis of arm; Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) in the chest, e.g. hematoma
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, slight lateral slant, 0.5 - 0.8 cun, producing a local sensation of soreness and distension around shoulder joint
moxa: 3 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
combinations:
» with TW-14 joined to Ht-1, and GB-34 for perifocal inflammation of shoulder joint (Shanghai, p. 225);
» with Lu-6, Lu-5 and Lu-10 for coughing blood (Shanghai, p. 225);
» with Lu-5 for hemoptysis (Shanghai, p. 245);
» with SI-2 for inability to raise the arm (Shanghai, p. 225).
