Luo Connecting point of the Hand Yang Ming (Large Intestine) channel with the Hand Tai Yin (Lung) channel
location: 3 cun proximal to the wrist crease, on the line between Yang Xi (LI-5) and Qu Chi (LI-11), 1/4 of the way.
actions: dissipates Heat and Fire; benefits the ear and treats deafness; opens Lung Water Pathways; tonifies Kidney Yin by directing the Yang Qi of the Exterior toward the internal duct of the Triple Warmer (Finkelstein, p. 8); eliminates Damp and treats lower body edema
indications: madness with loquacity; fever; deafness; tinnitus; facial paralysis; dimness of vision; conjunctivitis; epistaxis; toothache, esp. due to inflammation; tonsillitis; throat dry and numb; neuralgia of the arm; forearm and hand pain; edema of face and upper body; inhibited urination; constipation
needle technique: perpendicular or oblique insertion, 0.3 - 1.0 cun
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
combinations:
» with UB-23, GV-19, UB-2 and UB-60 for blindness (Shanghai, p. 680);
» with Sp-9 causes diuresis (Finkelstein, p. 8);
» with SI-7 increases the internal duct effect and treats edema below lumbar level (Finkelstein, p. 8).
