Cnidium and Tea F. = Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao San = "Ligusticum Chuanxiong Powder to be Taken with Green Tea".

signs and symptoms: Headache anywhere on the head, fever and chills, nasal congestion, dizziness.
tongue and pulse: Thin white tongue coating, floating pulse.
indications: Headache due to Wind or Wind Cold. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as flu with headache, chronic rhinitis, nasal sinusitis, neuralgic headache, and migraine.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated for headache due to Wind Heat, Liver Yang Rising, or from Xu (Deficiency) syndromes.
ingredients: dosage for one day:
» 6 grams: cnidium (chuang xiong), notopterygium (qiang huo), angelica (bai zhi), schizonepeta (jing jie), siler (fang feng).
» 3 grams: asarum (xi xin), mentha (bo he), licorice (gan cao).
administration: Grind the above ingredients into powder. Take 6 grams twice a day with green tea.
modifications:
» for chronic rhinitis or sinusitis, add magnolia flower (xin yi hua) and xanthium fruit (cang er zi).
» for occipital headache, add ligusticum (gao ben).
» for temporal headache, add bupleurum (chai hu).
» for vertex headache, add lumbricus (di long) and evodia (wu zhu yu).
» for frontal headache, add pueraria (ge gen).
