Clematis and Stephania C. = Shu Jing Huo Xue Tang = "Relax the Channels and Invigorate the Blood Decoction".

signs and symptoms: Severe pain in the muscles, joints and nerves, especially below the waist; radiating pain in the leg, numbness in the lower extremities, and pain in the trunk and extremities; indicated for Shi (Excess)-type disorders, such as those due to excessive alcohol intake, sexual indulgence, or trauma.
tongue and pulse: Pink or pale tongue with purple spots, with hesitant or tight pulse.
indications: Xue (Blood) Stasis and Wind Dampness in the Channels. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as gout, lumbago, sciatica, numbness in the legs, edema, purpura, monoplegia, hypertension, and postpartum pain.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated for Xu (Deficiency)-type disorders.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 9 grams: rehmannia (di huang), persica (tao ren).
» 6 grams: Chinese angelica (tang kuei) (dang gui), cnidium (chuan xiong), white peony (bai shao yao), poria (fu ling), red atractylodes (cang zhu), notopterygium (qiang huo), angelica (bai zhi), clematis (wei ling xian), stephania (fang ji), siler (fang feng), gentiana (long dan cao), achyranthes (huai niu xi).
» 3 grams: citrus (chen pi), fresh ginger (sheng jiang), licorice (gan cao).
