Astragalus C.= Huang Qi Jian Zhong Tang = "Tang Kuei Decoction to Construct the Middle"

signs and symptoms: Spontaneous sweating, fatigue, night sweats, shortness of breath, occasional fever, abdominal pain, pale face.
tongue and pulse: pale tongue with white coat and thin, faint and frail pulse.
indications: Qi Xu (Deficiency). With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as weakness during convalescence, delicate constitution in children, neurasthenia, aplastic anemia, chronic ulceration, chronic allergies, postpartum fever, chronic otitis media, peptic ulcer, and chronic hepatitis.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated for Heat from Yin Xu (Deficiency). Modify in patients with vomiting or roundworms because these conditions are often aggravated by sweet substances. It may also be modified in cases with abdominal distention.
ingredients: dosage for one day:
» 20 grams: maltose (yi tang).
» 6 grams: white peony (bai shao yao).
» 3 grams: jujube (da zao), cinnamon twig (gui zhi), honey-baked licorice (zhi gan cao), ginger (sheng jiang).
» 1.5 grams: astragalus (huang qi).
