Jiao Hui Intersecting point of the Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) and Foot Xiao Yin (Kidney) channel; Confluence of Vital Qi (Mann, p. 47)
location: 0.5 cun lateral from the anterior midline on the abdomen, 3 cun inferior to the umbilicus, level with CV-4.
diagnostic uses: uterus reflex point (Matsumoto)
actions: influences the pituitary gland (Worsley, 1975, p. B-20); regulates the Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel); tonifies the Kidney and Jing (Essence); reinforces Kidney Qi; beneficial to the reproductive organs, esp. female; influences development of the Uterus (D); regulates and warms the Uterus, esp. with D; clears the Lower Warmer; removes Obstructions from the Kidney channel
indications: eye pain and inflammation beginning at medial canthus; "Qi from upper abdomen attacks ribs and causes pain, Qi rushing madly up and down causing pain in loins" (Mann, p. 47); lower abdominal pain; diarrhea, can be incessant; urinary tract infection; hematuria; paralysis of the bladder; urinary retention; irregular menstruation; vaginal discharge; infertility; seminal emission; impotence; pain in penis; lumbar pain
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.0 - 2.0 cun, producing local pain and a sensation of distension
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 30 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
