stretching exercise: shoulder
1. standing in front of wall, stretch arms overhead with front of body flat against
wall
2. stand in front of wall about half an arm's length away; bend over at waist keeping hands on wall and back straight; progress in this exercise would mean that you can bend 90° at waist with back straight (so now repeat standing farther away from wall)
3. standing about an arm's length away from doorway, put one arm behind back and
with the other arms reach back to grab doorway; turn head towards arm that's behind back; the stretch should be felt in the arm which is reaching back; repeat with other arm
4. standing, hold towel between hands in front, then overhead, then in back
5. sitting, hands overhead clasped together, bend to one side then the other
6. sitting, put one arm across chest with elbow slightly bent and grab right above the elbow with the other hands; stretch first arm, while turning head to look across stretched shoulder; each exercise should be held for 15-20 seconds initially, then up to 90° with progress
