Pueraria, Coptis and Scute C.= Ge Gen Huang Lian Huang Qin Tang = "Kudzu, Coptis and Scutellaria Decoction"

signs and symptoms: Fever, sweating, thirst, diarrhea with a foul smell, tenesmus, burning sensation around the anus, irritability, stiffness and spasms in the neck and back.
tongue and pulse: Red tongue with yellow coating, and rapid pulse.
indications: Interior Heat Blazing. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as toothache, stomatitis, influenza, acute gastroenteritis, dysentery, diarrhea, febrile diseases.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated for diarrhea due to Cold and Xu (Deficient) and for dysenteric disorders without fever and with a deep, slow pulse.
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 10 grams: pueraria (ge gen).
» 6 grams: scute (huang qin).
» 3 grams: coptis (huang lian), honey-baked licorice (zhi gan cao).
modifications:
» with indigestion, add crataegus (shan zha) and medicated leaven (shen qu).
» for high fever and stools containing blood or pus, add anemone (bai tou weng) and fraxinus (qin pi).
» for diarrhea with vomiting, add pinellia (ban xia).
