Mu Alarm point of the Fei (Lung); Entry point of the Hand Tai Yin (Lung) channel; Jiao Hui Intersecting point of the Foot Tai Yin (Spleen) and Hand Tai Yin (Lung) channels.
location: Lateral and superior to the sternum, on the lateral side of the pectoralis muscle, 6 cun lateral of the anterior midline, Ren Mai, at the bottom of delto-pectoral triangle.
actions: regulates Qi of the Upper Warmer and Lung; clears, opens, and draws Qi into the Lung channel; stimulates descending of Lung Qi; enhances oxygenation; increases Qi and stamina; nourishes Lung Yin; aids release of old emotions (-); cools and disperses Heat and Yang from the Upper Warmer, chest and lungs; stops cough; disperses Qi or Phlegm Stagnation; disperses fullness from the chest and stops pain
indications: sensation that Qi rises to the top of the body (Mann,1967, p. 3); congested nose; rhinorrhea; edema of the face and limbs; stuttering; adenitis; pain in chest, shoulder and back; coughing, can be dry or coughing blood and pus; wheezing; asthma; fullness in the chest; bronchitis; bronchiectasis; pneumonia; pulmonary tuberculosis; tumors and nodular growths on the neck; shoulder, neck and back pain; excessive sweating; painful skin; acne
needle technique: oblique insertion, 0.3 - 0.5 cun, towards the lateral aspect of the chest, producing a local sensation of soreness and distension, spreading into the chest and upper arm
moxa: 3 - 5 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
