xiao chong = lesser (yin) rushing; little rushing in
Jing Well, Wood, Tonification and Exit point of the Hand Xiao Yin (Heart) channel
location: On the radial side of the little finger, 0.1 cun proximal to the corner of the nail.
actions: sedates the Shen; clears Heat; restores Yang; subdues Internal Wind; revives the senses and restores consciousness; opens the Heart Orifices; relieves fullness; pulls Qi down; strengthens Heart Yin and Yang; regulates the Heart; clears Heat from the Xue (Blood); tonifies Heart Qi
indications: mania; severe depression; dreams with fire and smoke; Shi (Excess) pattern with Heat in the Heart (Maciocia, p. 402); stroke; dysphoria; syncope; coma; sudden loss of consciousness, esp. due to stroke or fever; fever; weakness after fever; fever with sensation of cold; infantile convulsions; eyes not clear; expressionless voice; pharyngitis; dry throat; full feeling in the chest; general cardiac disease; palpitations; heart/chest pain; heart weak; atonic, steady pulse; pleurisy; bronchial hypersecretion; intercostal neuralgia; itchy genitalia; leukorrhea; neuralgia radiating from the palm to the armpit
needle technique: perpendicular or upward oblique insertion, 0.1 cun; prick for bloodletting
moxa: 1 - 3 cones of direct moxa; 3 - 5 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
combinations:
» with GV-26, St-36, PC-6 for unconsciousness;
» with Lv-2 for itchy crotch;
» with Lv-13 to treat animal smell of the genitals (Ellis, et al, 1988, p. 171).
