signs and symptoms: Mania-withdrawal and palpitations with anxiety; or severe, continuous palpitations which can lead to coma; or coughing and wheezing with thick, viscous sputum; or focal distention and a stifling sensation in the chest and epigastrium; or dizziness, vertigo, and tinnitus; constipation; there may be facial tics, insomnia or very strange dreams, sudden, deep pain in the joints, nodules in the neck, or a choking sensation.
tongue and pulse: Yellow, thick, and greasy tongue coating, and slippery, rapid, and forceful pulse.
indications: Phlegm-Fire which may affect the Orifices, Heart, Lungs and/or Channels and joints. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as hysteria, anxiety neurosis, manic depression, schizophrenia, seizure disorders, Meniere's disease, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, bronchial asthma, acute bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated during pregnancy and postpartum, in weak individuals, or in the absence of excessive Heat and chronic, stubborn Phlegm.
ingredients:
» 240 grams: rhubarb (da huang), scute (huang qin).
» 30 grams: chlorite (qing meng shi).
» 15 grams: aquilaria (chen xiang).
administration: Grind the ingredients into powder and form into pills with water. Take in 6-9 gram doses 1-2 times daily with warm water.
