Xiao Feng San = "Eliminate Wind Powder from True Lineage"

signs and symptoms: Weepy, itchy, red skin lesions.
tongue and pulse: Yellow or white tongue coating, and forceful, floating, and rapid pulse.
indications: Wind-Heat or Wind-Dampness. With the appropriate presentation, this formula may be used in treating conditions conventionally diagnosed as urticaria, eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, purpura, tinea infection and diaper rash.
cautions and contraindications: Contraindicated in cases with marked Qi or Xue (Blood) Xu (Deficiency).
ingredients: dosage for one day:
» 3 grams: schizonepeta (jing jie), siler (fang feng), arctium (niu bang zi), cicada (chan tui), red atractylodes (cang zhu), sophora bark (ku shen), gypsum (shi gao), anemarrhena (zhi mu), fresh rehmannia (sheng di huang), Chinese angelica (tang kuei) (dang gui), sesame seed (hei zhi ma).
» 1.5 grams: akebia (mu tong), licorice (gan cao).
modifications:
» for severe Wind-Heat and Toxin, add lonicera (jin yin hua), forsythia (lian qiao), dandelion (pu gong ying) and chrysanthemum flower (ye ju hua).
» for severe Heat in the Xue (Blood), add moutan bark (mu dan pi), red peony (chi shao) and lithospermum (zi cao).
» for severe Dampness, add coix (yi yi ren), fraxinella (bai xian pi) and kochia fruit (di fu zi).
» for severe Wind, add agkistrodon (bai hua she), scorpion (quan xie) and spirodela (fu ping).
