location: 3 cun above the lateral malleolus, on the posterior border of the fibula, between the tendons and bone.
actions: discharges Gall Bladder Fire; transforms Damp-Heat; pacifies the Liver; extinguishes Liver Wind; redirects Rebellious Qi downward, induces Xue (Blood) downward also; benefits the ears; relaxes the neck; regulates the Gall Bladder; relieves hypochondriac pain; tonifies the Bone Marrow and promotes leukocytosis; clears Marrow Heat; clears Heat and communicates the superficial with the internal of the three Foot Yang channels; relaxes the muscles and sinews; strengthens the Bones; expels Wind-Damp and otherwise frees the channels and connecting vessels
indications: penetrating Wind; persistent high fever due to common cold; neurasthenia; madness; fear; bad temper; chorea; cerebral hemorrhage; hemiplegia; dyskinesia due to stroke; migraine headache; epistaxis; inside of nose dry; lack of appetite; throat blockage; pharyngitis; torticollis; stiff and painful neck; scrofula; coughing; fullness in chest and abdomen; acute appendicitis; diarrhea; hemorrhoids; rheumatism; difficulty rising after sitting; sciatica; diseases of knee and ankle joints and surrounding tissues; leg Qi; pain and soreness of the lower leg, esp. calf muscles
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 1.0 - 1.5 cun, producing local distention and soreness, possibly spreading to sole of foot; may be joined with Sp-6
moxa: 3 - 7 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
