electric light bath

1. a specially designed cabinet with floor space about 5 ft. square, 4.5 ft. tall and holds 80 bare-filament incandescent bulbs of 60-100 watts arranged in four strips
2. six switches are needed to turn on all the lights
3. two circuits are required
4. one side is left open and covered with a wool blanket after patient enters to sit down
5. patient's head is projecting out; use towel to seal around neck
6. body temperature rises in 20 min., sweating begins in 5-8 min. use cold compress to wipe head
7. remove patient when desired temperature is reached or after 10-20 min.
8. finish with cold mitten friction or cool shower
