definition

tian guan = celestial spring
location: On the upper arm, 2 cun below the axillary fold, between the two heads of the biceps muscle.
actions: quickens the Xue (Blood); relaxes and opens the chest; regulates and nourishes the Heart; transforms Stagnation; relieves pain
indications: fear of Wind and Cold; diminished visual clarity; anorexia; vomiting; coughing; pulmonary congestion; bronchitis; angina pectoris; palpitations induced by fear; pain and sensation of fullness in the chest, esp. the diaphragm (Mann, p. 51); pain along the medial aspect of the arm.
needle technique: perpendicular or medial oblique insertion, 1.0 - 1.5 cun
moxa: 3 - 8 cones of direct moxa; 5 - 10 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
