Jiao Hui Intersecting point of the Foot Tai Yang (Bladder) channel on the Foot Xiao Yang (Gall Bladder) channel; one of the Nine Needles for Returning the Yang
location: At the juncture of the middle and lateral third of the distance between the greater trochanter and the sacral hiatus, in the lateral recumbent position.
actions: dispels Wind and Cold; invigorates the Kidney; influences the parathyroids (Worsley, 1975, p. B-20); strengthens the lower back; regulates the hip joint; strengthens the thigh; facilitates movement of leg and encourages femur growth in children (Finkelstein, p. 68); benefits the knee; dissipates Wind-Damp in the channels and connecting vessels; frees the channels and removes Obstructions; relaxes the muscles and tendons
indications: neurasthenia; nervous exhaustion; paralysis; hemiplegia; unilateral uncoordination; epilepsy; influenza; edema; rheumatism; unable to turn; soreness and pain in lower back, buttocks and hip; sciatica; pain in the crotch and pelvis; Bi, paralysis and atony of the lower extremities; knee pain
needle technique: perpendicular insertion, 2.0 - 3.0 cun, producing a local sensation of numbness and distension possibly spreading inferiorly to the foot
moxa: 5 - 10 cones of direct moxa; 10 - 15 minutes of indirect moxa with a pole
