patterns and combinations
after assessing the person and palpating, consider these patterns:
Lower Warmer Damp-Heat or Cold due to Qi Xu (Deficiency) or Xue Xu (Blood Deficiency); Spleen Qi Xu (Deficiency); Heart Xue Xu (Blood Deficiency)
» illustrative and related combinations:
(1) Sp-6 and Sp-9 (also Sp-10 in acute condition); (2) UB-23, GV-4 and UB-47/52 (with five cones of direct moxa, red bean size, to UB-23 for chronic condition); (3) CV-6, CV-4 and CV-3 (with five cones of direct moxa, red bean size, to CV-3 for chronic condition; or indirect moxa with ginger or instrument to CV-4 and CV-3 for acute condition) for gonorrhea; note: "In acute conditions , three to five treatments will suffice. In chronic conditions, ten to fifteen treatments." (So, 1987, p. 249)
CV-3 and Sp-6 regulate the Qi function of the Lower Warmer and the function of the genital organs - Sp-6 sends Qi up; CV-3 sends it deep (Finkelstein, p. 84)
