Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel)
Acupuncture

definition

character: Central reservoir of the Xue (Blood) and Jing (Essence) in the body. The name can mean "passing through" (Matsumoto). This suggests a pathway, wherein sexuality is defined, cultivated and transformed. Most of its symptoms involve the sexual systems of both sexes. Esoterically, it is the street one travels to gather and transmute Qi and Jing (Essence). Abnormally, leakage and weakness of the genitals occurs. When the Qi is cultivated through, these same fluids can be used to rejuvenate one's internal organs rather than being spent in excessive sex and reproduction. Blockages in this channel occurs easily, preventing the flow of transformative and regenerative essences. Liver Stagnation is often due to Chong Mai blockages, which be located by abdominal palpation (Seem). Intimately associated with GV-4 (ming men) and Sp-6 (san jiao) (Matsumoto).
