Ju He Wan = "Tangerine Seed Pill"

signs and symptoms: Distention and spasmodic pain in the lower abdomen or testes, testicular swelling, or hernia.
tongue and pulse: white tongue coat, deep and wiry/taut pulse.
indications: Hernial Disorder due to Damp-Cold Invading the Liver Channel. With the appropriate presentation, may be used in conditions conventionally diagnosed as hydrocele, orchitis, hernia, and epididymitis.
cautions and contraindications:
ingredients: dosage for two days:
» 9 grams: tangerine seed (ju he).
» 6 grams: corydalis (yan hu suo), magnolia bark (hou po), chih-shih (zhi shi), laminaria (kun bu), sargassum (hai zao), kelp (hai dai), akebia (mu tong).
» 3 grams: melia (chuan lian zi), persica seed (tao ren), saussurea (mu xiang).
» 1 gram: cinnamon bark (rou gui).
modifications:
» for severe Xue Yu (Blood Stasis) and pain, add sparganium (san leng) and zedoria (e zhu).
» for severe Cold with intense pain, increase the dosage of cinnamon bark (rou gui) and saussurea (mu xiang). Alternatively, add fennel (xiao hui xiang) and evodia (wu zhu yu).
» if Damp-Cold transforms into Heat with redness and swelling of the scrotum or a yellow, oozing exudate and scanty, dark urine, omit cinnamon bark (rou gui) and add plantago seed (che qian zi), alisma (ze xie) and smilax (tu fu ling).
» If the Heat is severe, add scute (huang qin), phellodendron (huang bai) and gentiana (long dan cao).
